Junior Golf Coaching

Juniors come high on our list of priorities at the Golf Academy. For the last 15 years the Junior Golf Academy has been one of the largest and most successful in the UK. Parents are reminded that to achieve PGA Qualifications, coaches have to complete all DBS checks necessary and undergo regular updates in child teaching methods. Parents should always check that coaches and facilities have passed the correct Safeguarding Children Workshops and have the correctly displayed certificates.

We are proud to announce that from January 1st 2014 we were appointed a Centre of Excellence and a GET INTO GOLF Regional Centre by the governing body England Golf ,under the Rangemark award scheme - one of only a couple in Lancashire. Two of our coaches are also appointed as development Coaches to the Lancashire Union Of Golf Clubs and Lancashire Ladies County Golf Association and work with Juniors in several age groups to reach County Playing Standards.

Juniors can come along aged 5-14 and join one of our junior groups that run at weekends throughout the year. The courses run over six weeks and are at the same time every weekend. We also provide one day and three day courses during School holidays and half terms. In the last 12 months we have written our own Junior Golf Academy programme and this dovetails with the National Golf Passport Scheme. This combines coaching, fun challenges and informal reports. This allows you to follow the progress of your child and allows us to chart progress and adapt according to the needs of the individual.

Group lessons normally take place at 9.30am, 11.30am and 1.30pm both Saturday and Sunday. Juniors are grouped where possible in terms of age and/or ability to ensure each individual receives the information best suited to them. Each group contains a maximum of 10 children and lessons are always delivered by 2 PGA/EGTF qualified coaches, ensuring individuals receive an ample amount of individual attention per session.

Although good technique is the central subject matter of the lessons, we aim to incorporate aspects of etiquette and rules as much as possible as these are the elements that we feel set golf apart from other sports in terms of a child’s development.

Our next course will begin in September, until then we continue with Junior lessons but on a "walk up basis" dates will appear here for six Saturdays and Sundays between mid June  and end of August  2017. Each session is £10 to include all balls and equipment. This is a departure from our normal six week continuous package, to enable a better use of time for parents trying to fit in Summer Holidays schedules. Call by and check out our facilities and meet our coaches any time and they will be happy to show you around and explain our approach.

The cost of the six week course remains £60 which importantly includes any equipment needed and all range balls as applicable - no extras which is the norm if you compare elsewhere
